Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 2 cups cooked turkey, shredded or chopped
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Make the cranberry aioli: In a small bowl, combine cranberry sauce, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Without separating, slice the entire pack of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. Spread about half of the cranberry aioli onto the bottom layer of rolls.
  5. Distribute the shredded turkey evenly over the aioli.
  6. Place provolone slices over the turkey, tearing to fit if needed.
  7. Spread the remaining aioli on the cut side of the top half of the rolls, then place on top of the cheese, pressing gently.
  8. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and poppy seeds. Brush over the tops of the rolls.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake for another 5-7 minutes, until tops are golden and cheese is bubbly.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before cutting between the rolls and serving warm.

Notes

For best results, use leftover roasted turkey or rotisserie chicken. Don’t skip the resting step—it helps the sliders hold together. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free slider buns. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and dairy-free cheese. Assemble up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate; add 5-10 minutes to covered baking time.
