Quick and fun Halloween mummy hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, served with a homemade spider web ketchup. Perfect for last-minute school parties or spooky gatherings.

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: mustard or ketchup dots (for mummy eyes)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (e.g., Heinz)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Pinch perforated seams together to form a solid rectangle. Cut dough lengthwise into 8 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide each.
  3. Wrap one dough strip around a hot dog, starting at one end and working to the other, leaving a 1/2 inch gap near the top for the mummy’s face. Place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  4. In a small bowl, beat egg with 1 tablespoon water. Lightly brush tops of dough-wrapped hot dogs with egg wash.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed.
  6. While baking, make spider web ketchup: In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and water. Transfer to a small squeeze bottle or ziplock bag with a tiny corner snipped off.
  7. Once mummy dogs are out of the oven and slightly cooled (about 5 minutes), use a toothpick to dab two small dots of mustard or ketchup on the exposed hot dog area for eyes.
  8. On each serving plate or directly on mummy dogs, squeeze ketchup in a spiral pattern. Use a toothpick to drag lines from center outward to create a web effect.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough; handle gently. Leave a little space when wrapping so dough can expand. For make-ahead, assemble up to egg wash step and refrigerate up to 4 hours. For freezing, freeze assembled unbaked mummy dogs; bake from frozen adding 5-7 minutes. Spider web ketchup can be made ahead and refrigerated.
