A budget-friendly charcuterie board for two with honey and figs that recreates the magic of a fancy wine bar board without the fancy price tag. Perfect for date nights or lazy Sundays, this board is ready in 10 minutes and uses simple, everyday ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar
  • 4 ounces goat cheese
  • 4 ounces manchego
  • 4 ounces prosciutto
  • 4 ounces salami
  • 3–4 fresh figs
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup dried apricots or dates
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds and walnuts)
  • 1/4 cup olives (kalamata or castelvetrano)
  • 1 small baguette or 1/2 box of crackers
  • 1 small apple or pear (optional)
  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving to bring to room temperature.
  2. Slice the baguette into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick). Optionally, toast at 375°F for 5-7 minutes with olive oil and salt.
  3. Slice hard cheeses (cheddar and manchego) into thin triangles or small cubes. Leave goat cheese whole.
  4. Rinse figs, pat dry, cut off stems, and slice in half lengthwise. If using apple or pear, slice thin and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. Fold or roll prosciutto into loose ribbons. Fold salami slices in half, then in half again, and arrange in piles.
  6. Pour honey into a small dish. Place olives in another small bowl. Scatter nuts and dried fruit in small piles around the board.
  7. Assemble the board: place cheeses in different spots, add meats next to cheeses, fill gaps with fruit, nuts, dried fruit, and olives. Tuck bread or crackers in remaining spaces. Place honey dish centrally and drizzle a little honey over goat cheese or figs.
  8. Add finishing touches: tuck rosemary sprigs around the board for color. Serve immediately.

Notes

Let cheese come to room temperature for best flavor. Always put honey in a small dish to prevent sogginess. For a vegetarian version, skip the meat and double the cheese. For a nut-free option, swap nuts for roasted chickpeas or pumpkin seeds.
