This cozy Christmas sugar cookie bark is a simple, 4-ingredient treat that combines a buttery sugar cookie base with creamy white chocolate and festive sprinkles. Perfect for holiday gifting or a quick dessert, it comes together in under 20 minutes of active prep time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • ¼ cup Christmas sprinkles (mix of red, green, and white jimmies or nonpareils)
  • Optional: ½ cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, extending slightly over the edges.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Scrape down the sides halfway through.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet. Press it into an even rectangle, about ¼ inch thick. Lightly flour your hands if sticky.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and center is set. The top should be pale.
  7. Let the cookie base cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Melt the white chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave. If using microwave, heat in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  9. Pour the melted white chocolate over the cooled cookie base. Use an offset spatula or spoon to spread evenly to the edges.
  10. While the white chocolate is still wet, sprinkle Christmas sprinkles and crushed candy canes (if using) evenly over the top. Press them in gently.
  11. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, until the white chocolate is completely firm.
  12. Once set, lift the parchment paper to remove the bark. Break into irregular pieces with your hands.

Notes

Don’t overbake the cookie base; edges should be just barely golden. Let the cookie cool completely before adding white chocolate to prevent melting. Use good-quality white chocolate to avoid seizing. Work in a cool kitchen for best results. Break the bark with your hands for rustic pieces.
