A fun and delicious guacamole dip shaped like a monster with olive eyes, perfect for cozy nights in. Quick to make with simple ingredients, it’s a crowd-pleaser that brings a smile to everyone’s face.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large ripe avocados
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeds removed and minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 can (about 6 oz) whole pitted black olives, drained
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients first: dice the red onion, mince the jalapeño, chop the cilantro, and drain the olives.
  2. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the lime juice immediately and toss gently to coat the avocado.
  4. Mash the avocado with a potato masher or fork until mostly smooth but still with some small chunks.
  5. Add the diced red onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper. Fold gently until evenly distributed. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Transfer the guacamole to a serving platter or shallow bowl and shape into a rounded mound (the monster’s head).
  7. Press two whole black olives into the top half of the mound for eyes, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Optional: add more olive slices for teeth, jalapeño slice for tongue, or red onion strips for eyebrows.
  9. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  10. Serve with tortilla chips arranged around the monster face.

Notes

For best results, use ripe avocados that yield to gentle pressure. Prep all mix-ins before cutting avocados to minimize browning. Serve at room temperature. Leftovers can be stored with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface for up to 24 hours.
