A quick and easy Halloween charcuterie board featuring candy corn, cheese, pretzels, and chocolate. Perfect for parties, this sweet and salty snack board comes together in under 15 minutes and is a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • Cheddar cheese block (sharp or mild, cut into cubes or thin rectangles)
  • String cheese (mozzarella sticks, cut into halves or thirds)
  • Brie or soft cheese wheel (optional)
  • Pretzel sticks or mini pretzels
  • Pumpkin seeds or roasted almonds (shelled, salted)
  • Buttery crackers (like Ritz or Club crackers)
  • Pita chips or tortilla chips (optional)
  • Candy corn (classic or autumn mix)
  • Chocolate-covered pretzels or chocolate candies (like mini peanut butter cups or Halloween M&Ms)
  • Caramel popcorn or candy pumpkins (optional)
  • Dried cranberries or apple chips
  • Pumpkin butter or apple butter
  • Caramel dip or chocolate sauce
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • Fresh apple slices (tossed in lemon juice)
  • Fresh grapes (green or red, in small clusters)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or edible flowers (optional)
  • Ghost-shaped or bat-shaped cookie cutters (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your cheese (5 minutes). Cut your cheddar block into bite-sized cubes or thin rectangles. Slice your string cheese into halves or thirds. If using brie, leave it whole or cut into wedges. Place the cheese in small clusters around the board, leaving space between different types.
  2. Set up your dips and spreads (2 minutes). Spoon pumpkin butter, caramel dip, or chocolate sauce into small ramekins or bowls. Place them in strategic spots around the board—one near the center and one near the edge. If using honey or maple syrup, drizzle it over the brie just before serving.
  3. Add your salty elements (3 minutes). Arrange pretzel sticks in small bundles or piles around the board. Create little ‘fences’ with pretzel sticks between sweet and savory sections. Scatter pumpkin seeds or almonds in the gaps. Place crackers in a fan pattern near the cheese clusters.
  4. Add your sweet elements (3 minutes). Pour candy corn into a small bowl or create a ‘candy corn river’ across the board. Place chocolate-covered pretzels or Halloween M&Ms in clusters near the candy corn. Add caramel popcorn or candy pumpkins if using.
  5. Add fresh elements (2 minutes). Tuck small clusters of grapes into the gaps. Arrange apple slices in a fan pattern near the cheese. If using rosemary sprigs or edible flowers, place them strategically around the board.
  6. Final touches and presentation (1 minute). Step back and look at your board. Fill any empty gaps with extra crackers, nuts, or candy corn. If using cookie cutters, press them into cheese slices or apple slices for fun shapes.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use vegan cheese blocks and dairy-free chocolate. For a gluten-free board, swap crackers and pretzels for gluten-free alternatives. If you can’t find candy corn, use candy pumpkins or autumn-colored M&Ms. Keep candy corn in a small bowl or tight cluster to prevent it from rolling off the board. Take cheese out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before serving for best flavor. Wait to add fresh fruit and candy corn until just before serving to keep them fresh.
