Halloween Mummy Pigs in a Blanket - featured image

These Easy Halloween Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a quick, kid-approved snack made with crescent rolls and hot dogs, wrapped to look like little mummies. Perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, or a fun family dinner, they come together in under 20 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • Mustard or candy eyes for decoration
  • Ketchup (for serving, optional)
  • Ranch dressing (for serving, optional)
  • Spicy mustard (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough. Separate the dough along the perforated lines into 8 triangles. If using seamless sheet, cut into 8 rectangles.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3 long strips, about half an inch wide. Leave about an inch connected at the narrow end so the strips stay attached.
  4. Leave the hot dogs whole. Do not cut them in half.
  5. Place a hot dog at the wide end of the cut dough strips. Wrap the strips around the hot dog, crossing them over each other as you go up. Leave a small gap about the size of a nickel at the top for the face.
  6. Arrange the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Using a toothpick, apply small dots of mustard to the exposed hot dog area to create eyes. For candy eyes, gently press them into the hot dog while it is still warm.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature hot dogs. Do not overwork the dough. Leave a gap for the face to create the mummy look. If using candy eyes, wait until mummies are completely cool to prevent melting. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crescent roll dough and handle gently.
