A warm, gooey cobbler with a buttery crust, toasted pecans, and a salted caramel layer that creates its own sauce as it bakes. Perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (separated: 1/2 cup for batter, 1/2 cup for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place a 9×13 inch baking dish on a baking sheet.
  2. Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  4. Add 1 cup whole milk, the melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whisk until just combined (a few lumps are fine).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Do not spread it around.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped pecans evenly over the batter.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup packed brown sugar over the pecans.
  8. Drizzle 1/2 cup caramel sauce over everything. Do not stir.
  9. Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water gently over the top. Do not stir.
  10. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt over the top.
  11. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling. If browning too fast, tent with foil after 30 minutes.
  12. Let rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Don’t skip the boiling water step—it creates the gooey sauce. Toast pecans at 350°F for 5 minutes for deeper flavor. Let cobbler rest at least 10 minutes to set. Place dish on a baking sheet to catch any overflow.
