Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium fresh pineapple, peeled and cut into small cubes or triangles
  • 2 large navel oranges or 1 small cantaloupe, peeled and segmented or cubed
  • 2 cups seedless green grapes
  • 2–3 kiwis, peeled and sliced into half-moons or small chunks (alternative to grapes)
  • ½ small honeydew melon, cut into small cubes (alternative to grapes)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (Fage or Chobani recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of ½ lemon
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the pineapple: Cut off the top and bottom, stand upright and slice off the skin in strips. Remove any remaining ‘eyes’ with the tip of your knife. Cut in half lengthwise, then into quarters. Remove the core from each quarter. Cut into small cubes, about ½ inch each. You’ll need about 2 cups of pineapple cubes.
  2. Prep the oranges or cantaloupe: If using oranges, cut off the top and bottom, then slice off the peel following the curve of the fruit. Hold the orange over a bowl and cut between the membranes to release each segment. If using cantaloupe, cut in half, scoop out seeds, slice into wedges, cut flesh away from rind, and cube into ½-inch pieces. You’ll need about 1½ cups.
  3. Prep the green grapes: Rinse the grapes and pat them completely dry. Leave them whole. If using kiwi or honeydew instead, peel and cut into small chunks similar in size to the pineapple.
  4. Make the yogurt dip: In a small bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Stir until smooth and well combined. Add cinnamon if using and stir again. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  5. Arrange the fruit tray: Start with the yellow layer: arrange pineapple cubes in a wide triangle at the bottom of your platter, about 8-10 inches wide at the bottom and 4 inches tall.
  6. Add the orange layer: Above the pineapple, arrange orange segments or cantaloupe cubes in a narrower triangle, overlapping slightly with the pineapple. Make it about 6-7 inches wide at its widest point and 3 inches tall.
  7. Finish with the white tip: At the top, arrange green grapes (or kiwi or honeydew) in a pointed triangle, about 4 inches wide at the base and tapering to a point.
  8. Add the dip: Place the bowl of yogurt dip at the bottom of the platter, below the yellow layer, or serve it on the side.
  9. Final touches: Add mint leaves around the edges or sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the dip if desired.

Notes

Assemble the fruit tray no more than 2 hours before serving to keep fruit fresh. For best results, cut fruit ahead and store separately, then arrange just before serving. The yogurt dip can be made a day ahead and improves in flavor.
