This Festive Copycat Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Dip is the kind of recipe that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with complicated desserts during the holidays. It tastes exactly like those iconic little cakes but in dippable form—which, let’s face it, is even better.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 7 oz marshmallow fluff (one standard jar)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, crushed into small pieces (save one for topping decoration)
  • 1/4 cup green sprinkles
  • Additional crushed cake pieces from the reserved cake for garnish
  • Assorted dippers: graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzel sticks, apple slices, or shortbread cookies

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese. Take the cream cheese out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before you start. It should be soft enough that when you press it with your finger, it leaves an indentation. If you’re in a hurry, microwave it for 10-15 seconds—but watch it carefully.
  2. Beat the cream cheese. Place the softened cream cheese in your large mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until it’s completely smooth and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your spatula halfway through.
  3. Add the marshmallow fluff. Scoop the entire jar of marshmallow fluff into the bowl with the cream cheese. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds to combine, then increase to medium and beat for another minute until the mixture is light and airy.
  4. Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat on low speed first to avoid a sugar cloud, then increase to medium and beat for 1-2 minutes until everything is fully incorporated.
  5. Crush the Christmas Tree Cakes. Take 3 of the cakes and place them in a ziploc bag. Seal it, then use a rolling pin or your hands to crush them into small pieces. You want some larger chunks for texture, not a fine powder. Leave the fourth cake intact for decoration.
  6. Fold in the cake crumbs. Gently fold the crushed cake pieces into the dip using your spatula. Don’t overmix—you want visible streaks of cake throughout.
  7. Transfer to a serving bowl. Scoop the dip into your serving bowl and spread it evenly.
  8. Decorate. Crush the remaining cake into a few larger pieces and scatter them on top. Add the green sprinkles in a festive pattern.
  9. Chill (optional but recommended). Pop the dip in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before serving. This helps the flavors meld together and makes the texture even creamier. If you’re in a rush, serve it immediately.

Notes

The biggest mistake is using cold cream cheese—let it sit out. Don’t overmix the cake crumbs or the green icing will bleed. Crush two cakes finely and leave one with bigger chunks for texture. This dip is best served within 2 hours of making it. If making ahead, prepare the base and fold in cake crumbs right before serving. Room temperature ingredients work best.
