A spooky, fun, and easy Halloween snack board featuring pretzel rods transformed into witches’ fingers with almond fingernails, served with a creamy pumpkin dip and surrounded by creepy-cute snacks like grape eyeballs and apple slices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard bag (12–16 ounces) pretzel rods
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • A few drops green food coloring
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 apple, sliced thin
  • 1 cup orange cheese cubes (cheddar or Colby Jack)
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • A few fresh rosemary sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the dip first. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through.
  2. Add 2-3 drops of green food coloring to the dip and mix until you achieve a light, swampy green color.
  3. Prepare the ‘fingernails.’ If desired, toast the sliced almonds in a dry pan over medium heat for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Let cool completely.
  4. Assemble the fingers. Take a pretzel rod and gently press a sliced almond onto one end to look like a long, pointy fingernail. If it doesn’t stick, use a tiny dab of cream cheese dip as ‘glue.’ Repeat for all pretzel rods (about 12-16).
  5. Arrange the board. Place the small bowl of green dip in the center of a large serving board. Arrange the witches’ fingers around the bowl, pointing outward like a sunburst.
  6. Add the ‘eyeballs’ and other creepy bits. Scatter the red grapes around the board, arrange apple slices in small piles, place orange cheese cubes in clusters, and sprinkle dark chocolate chips around like little bugs or dirt.
  7. Finish with forest details. Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs in between the fingers and other snacks for a haunted forest look.
  8. Serve immediately while pretzels are crunchy and apple slices are fresh.

Notes

The dip can be made up to two days in advance and stored in the fridge. Bring to room temperature before serving. Assemble the pretzel fingers a few hours ahead, but add the almond ‘fingernails’ just before serving to keep them crunchy. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and sour cream alternatives. For a gluten-free option, swap pretzel rods for gluten-free pretzel sticks or carrot sticks.
