These light and easy mummy pigs in a blanket are a fun, quick Halloween appetizer made with light crescent roll dough and lean chicken or turkey sausages. Ready in just 20 minutes, they’re a crowd-pleasing treat that’s perfect for parties or weeknight fun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated light crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury Reduced Fat)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)
  • 8 fully cooked chicken or turkey cocktail sausages (e.g., Applegate Naturals)
  • 16 candy eyes (or small dots of mustard)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the can of light crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Do not separate the triangles. Press the perforated seams together firmly to create one solid rectangle of dough.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough rectangle lengthwise into 8 long, thin strips, each about ½ inch wide.
  4. Take one chicken or turkey cocktail sausage. Starting at one end, wrap a strip of dough around the sausage, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Overlap the dough slightly as you wrap. Press the end of the dough strip gently to seal it against the wrapped part. Repeat with the remaining sausages and dough strips.
  5. Arrange the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each one.
  6. In a small bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each wrapped mummy with the melted butter. If using, sprinkle a tiny pinch of everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds over the buttered dough.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is puffed up and a deep golden brown.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the mummies cool on the sheet for about 2 minutes. Gently press two candy eyes into the small gap at the top of each mummy.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, handle the dough gently to keep it light and flaky. Leave a small gap at the top of each mummy for the face. Brush butter lightly to avoid greasiness. Check at 10 minutes to prevent over-baking.
