Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless pork chops, about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced into ½-inch pieces (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
  • ½ cup finely diced yellow onion
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, and dried thyme.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the pork chops and rub it all over both sides. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over both sides, patting gently to adhere.
  4. Place a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes until softened and translucent.
  5. Add the diced apples, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the chutney simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes until apples are softened and liquid is syrupy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Place the seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  9. Let the pork chops rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.
  10. Spoon a generous amount of apple chutney over each pork chop and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use two different types of apples (one sweet, one tart). Don’t skip the resting time for the pork chops. If your air fryer is small, cook the chops in batches to avoid overcrowding. The chutney can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
