This quick honey garlic salmon in foil packets is the weeknight dinner hero you didn’t know you needed. It comes together in about 15 minutes with simple ingredients and minimal cleanup, making it perfect for busy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170g each)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85g)
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (45ml)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30ml)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (15ml)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Tear off four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, each about 12 to 18 inches long.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, rice vinegar, and grated ginger (if using) until well combined.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
  4. Lay a sheet of foil on your work surface. Place one salmon fillet in the center, skin-side down if your fillets have skin. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the honey garlic glaze over the top, spreading it evenly. Make sure some glaze gets under the fillet.
  5. Fold the foil over the salmon so the edges meet. Fold the edges over twice to create a tight seal, then crimp the ends. Repeat with the remaining fillets and glaze.
  6. Place the foil packets on a baking sheet, seam-side up. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  7. Carefully open one end of the packet to let steam escape, then slide the salmon onto a plate with a spatula. Spoon any remaining glaze from the foil over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry for best glaze. Let packets rest 1 minute before opening. Double the glaze if you want extra sauce. Can assemble packets up to 4 hours ahead. For air fryer: cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.
